It wouldn’t be Food Focus week without a post of a couple of my favourite recipes would it!
I am one of those people who do enjoy a good salad but it always seems to taste better if someone else has made it. This salad though I am more than happy to make & eat myself. It has been adapted from the Gaia Retreat ‘Grace’ cookbook. I visited Gaia a few years back & was impressed with their healthful food I bought the book. The second recipe is also from the same book with a few modifications from myself. Who can’t beat a bliss ball or two? Enjoy!

Food Focus week kicked off yesterday. Those who follow my blog regularly will know I like to delve into the metaphysical realm. Just because I’m focusing on food this week doesn’t mean it can’t be spiritual as well!
I’m a huge advocate for keeping balance through all four of our bodies: physical, mental, emotional & spiritual. If one is out of whack it will have a knock on effect to the other bodies. Food & nutrition can play a part here & throw our bodies into imbalance.
Everything in our universe is made up of energy. This energy can be measure in vibrational frequency. High vibration energy feels good; it flows & it is happy. That is why people on a conscious living path strive to raise their vibration because it brings us closer to the divine state – love & happiness.
Food is no exception. Different foods have varying vibrations. Higher vibrational foods come straight from the earth. Organic fresh produce is really the highest & best vibrational food you can eat. This is because to be certified organic no harmful, artificial chemicals can be used in its production. Food is our fuel it is also our medicine. The well known saying “we are what we eat” could not be more true.
We can heal our bodies from some pretty serious disease through balanced nutrition. Of course these programs are predominantly plant based. Eating straight from the earth means foods can retain it’s vibrational value. We are literally ingesting a part of mother earth. If fresh produce is put through processing & packaging methods the vibration is lowered. For packaged foods to have a longer shelf life some sort of preservatives have to be added. Again this will cause a vibrational decrease. The closest a food is to it’s natural form = high vibration.
It’s a no brainer to mention foods packed with processed sugar & alcohol are toxic to our systems. Anything that can dramatically alter our mind state, think sugar highs, does not say ‘balance’ to me. When a sugar craving kicks in there is an emotional reason there & it also means your low on the vital universal life force energy. If you eat high vibrational food, exercise & drink lots of water you will go through your day feeling balanced. There won’t be a need for quick pick me up’s as you’ll always be topped up on the right foods. I’m talking 100% from my own experience here. Feeling tired? Have a green smoothie!
I choose to eat a vegetarian diet as it suits my body & my lifestyle. I first gave up eating meat in my late teens. I will admit I was a bit of a rubbish vegetarian back then. The supermarkets in the UK stock a wide variety of processed vegetarian foods. It was far too easy to eat out of a packet with no fresh produce in sight.
When I first moved to Australia I did return to being an omnivore for a few years. Looking back now I was always bloated, my weight yo-yoed & my digestive system never seemed to be happy. Going back to being a vego I’ve experienced none of the above. Being older, wiser & more educated 🙂 I’ve got vegetarian cooking down pat now. Why buy packaged veggie lasagne when you can make your own straight from the garden.
My decision to return back to vegetarianism was also for energetic reasons. I believe when an animal is slaughtered for human consumption, no matter how humanly, it will still experience pain. This pain will then be held in the animals flesh on an energetic level. When we eat an animal product we ingest this pain into our systems. This can dull our vibration as our bodies take on this pain. Some people might not care too much about this. For my line of work I do. To be the clearest channel I can be for my healing clients I owe it to them & more importantly myself to have a clean energy field.
Another tip I’d like to share with you that may well be totally ‘woo woo’ to some so feel free to skip to the end is energy can be exchanged through the preparation of food too. How good does a home cooked meal taste that has been made with love? Good hey? The food has been infused with love & pure intentions that results in a lovely, tasty meal. We then eat the food, it tastes good & we feel good, as we’ve been passed on love through the food.
What is the person preparing the food is not happy, feeling down, angry & not in a good place? The opposite will occur. Their negative energy will be all over that plate of food & who ever eats it will take that on. This I feel may happen when you eat out at places where you don’t know who is in the kitchen. Is food poisoning to blame for upset stomachs? Probably but if two people have the same dish & only one gets sick what then? My take is the person who got sick may well be more sensitive to the dense energies that were in the food. Just something to think about…. (Warned you I would get woo woo!)
Don’t fret there is action you can take here & it’s really easy. By simply holding your hands over the plate of food (or drinks) you can charge it up using your own energy. I say a mantra as well when I do this I call upon my guides ‘to cleanse & bless this food with white light, please allow it to nourish me inside & out, thank you.’ It’s all in the intention to clear any dense energy away. You don’t have to use your hands, use your eyes or simply hold the intention in your mind before you hoe in.
I’ll leave you there with some energetic food for thought. Drink lots of clean, fresh water. Eat straight from the ground if possible. Most importantly enjoy your food, look after your bodies & be the best you can be.

Over the period of Mercury Retrograde (October 21st to November 10th) there was a huge push to get areas of our lives cleaned up. This meant physical cleaning as well as emotional. One Sunday morning what started with a quick rearrange & dust turned into an overhaul of my healing room. I hadn’t planned what was about to happen but the universe sure did.
Take a look at the photos below. Once I started moving things around and pulling open drawers I just couldn’t stop. I’m very good at hiding things away, out of sight out of mind. My drawers were full of stuff I was holding onto just in case. As you can see once I tipped them out the task ahead was epic. So much crap! One drawer was full of bits of cut off ribbon & craft materials. Seriously will I ever us a ten centimetre scrap of ribbon?
The room isn’t very big especially with my table up. When I have a session I need to reposition my table & my desk chair gets wheeled out to make space. I felt like this was a lot of effort especially as I’m conducting sessions more regularly. All that rearranging adds to my pre-session preparation. I decided I needed to loose some furniture so the table can stay put in one place.
After clearing out my drawers I stream lined the contents so I could totally get rid of one small set of drawers. The printer that sat on top was moved below the desk. A much better spot for it & it made better use of the desk that is designed to have a printer the lower shelf.
Then the fun started. The other two pieces of furniture went round and round in circles. I could not decide what felt right. I loved the space I created in the middle of the room by taking the big drawers away from the sidewall. It meant my table could stay in the one spot & I could get round it better. I just couldn’t decide where the drawers or shelves should go.
Finally I was too tried to drag the drawers around anymore & they stayed put by the door. The small shelves are in a better spot now as these house my metaphysical bits & pieces I use in sessions. I need these at easy reach. Stepping back & viewing the new room layout it feels so much better. All the furniture is away in one corner/wall, leaving a huge open space in the centre for my table. The energy really can flow round now with out any furniture blocking it’s path. My desk chair does not need to be moved out now. Actually it’s better it stays in so I have somewhere to sit whilst I talk to clients, makes it all the more friendly.
I realise now my room was craving this make over, it needed a switch up, and it was time for it to evolve. It’s amazing what happened next. The next day the phone & email went nuts with new clients enquiries. Business had gone a touch quiet. It happens, I don’t stress if it does. I feel the reason why was because the space I was working from had gone a bit stale. By cleaning it up & changing it around it’s vibrational frequency changed sending out messages to my clients that it was ready to receive them.
The same thing happened when I first set up the room. Once I set the intention that space was dedicated to healing & I left the table up all the time I had an influx of clients.
What I have learned from this is the space I work out of is a high vibrational entity just like me. This space is as much part of the healing session as I am. It will evolve with me as I grow & just like myself it will needs will change. I clear & cleanse the space energetically every day but now I realise as well as a physical clean it will need a rearrange from time to time. What worked with the layout before was fine for when I first started out. Now I need more space to get around & a chair to sit in as the after session coaching is getting longer.
Have you ever noticed how the energy of a room changes & shifts when you move around the furniture? Please share your experience in the comments below.

I’m sure the title of this post is going to alarm a few people considering I used to be quite the party girl in my younger years. I still quite like a good party just sans alcohol.
Don’t get me wrong I do actually still like the taste of a good wine. I used to enjoy a drink as a way to wind down after a long week, to celebrate with or just have a jolly good time. There were a lot of jolly good times that often saw me not getting out of bed the next day. Not so good. The messy side of drinking often over shadows the nice, pleasant times. Those drunken arguments, black outs, loosing your keys/purse/best friend & wasting a whole day with a hangover to mention a few. I do not miss that wretched feeling of a hangover. I’m so sorry dear body for putting you through all that stress & strain.
Drinking for me was a way of escaping, having some time off from the ‘real world.’ Since cleaning up my diet & getting serious about my healing work it’s even more important to me to keep my body clean & clear. Alcohol was something that just naturally fell away. Sure I was advised it’s best not to drink a few days before seeing clients as it could effect the connection & flow of energy. Now I’ve found my passion & joy in life there’s no need to escape it & I don’t want to escape it by falling into the wine bottle. I have my feet firmly planted in both world’s – the physical & non-physical & I’d like to keep that balance.
Alcohol is a suppressive. As I said above from an energetic point of view it lowers vibration & can block out the connection to the higher energy sources. Some healers do actually drink for this reason, as it’s their only way to ‘turn off.’ I’ve found other ways that suit me better. I certainly love having a strong solid connection with my guides. It’s also very dehydrating. Our bodies carry an electrical charge & water is a conductor. Hence to function at our best it’s essential we keep hydrated with fresh, filtered water.
In August five months had passed by & I hadn’t even thought about having a glass of wine. It just wasn’t part of my ‘routine’ anymore. Before I gave up my city job I could only see healing clients on a weekend. I naturally abstained from drinking on the two most popular days for it. Suddenly a lot of time had crept by since my last wine & I never even missed it.
It’s not like I’m never going to drink again. I am not going to start putting restrictions or rules on my life which lead to disappointment & guilt trips. I did partake in a few glasses of bubbles on a recent trip to Melbourne. They tasted good. I enjoyed the happy buzz & the social interaction that came with being out. Wow did it affect me though. Even after two glasses I felt smashed. After the third day in a row of ‘having a few’ I felt awful. I just cannot tolerate alcohol anymore. Drinking really doesn’t suit me now.
My partner & I were chatting the other night about his upcoming birthday. I remembered he was gifted a bottle of Moet last year. Here is that exact bottle that has sat in the fridge for one whole year untouched. How things have changed. A few years back no way would I have let good French Champagne just sit there. Check out the gross stain and sand on the box. (It’s been in the outdoor boy fridge, no dirt in the food fridge!!)
I’m accepting this change for me as a positive one. Sure I have had some strange looks & told I’m a bit weird for not drinking anymore especially as it’s ‘for spiritual reasons.’ Good resistance to show I’m moving the way I should be.
Have you moved away from something that is no longer serving you? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments below.

Over the past few weeks I’ve really noticed when I haven’t exercised as much as my body needs too. Just like stale air in our home can build up if we don’t open the windows & make the place feel yucky energy in our bodies can get stale if we don’t clear it out. I’ve been feeling sluggish & heavy within my body, not a good sign. We need to be flushing out our systems & moving the energy through to prevent a build up which then can manifest into physical symptoms. Exercise is perfect for that.
We are constantly evolving and what worked for me a year ago may not be having the same effect today. This is very true for how much exercise I need. I’ve pulled back on my yoga practice to a ‘maintenance’ level as far as my physical body is concerned. I’m not practicing half as many classes a week as I used too.
Another shift for me is that exercise is no longer about keeping the kilos off. This has been my biggest “ah ha” moment of late. In the past I’d slog it out at the gym, group fitness classes & at yoga with the aim of loosing or maintaining my weight. Epic fail. My weight was constantly yo-yoing. Once my focus shifted within & I ‘gave up’ focusing purely on weight loss magic things happened.
All the work I have done spiritually has made me realize how essential it is to work all four of my bodies in unison – physical, emotional, mental & spiritual in order to be balanced. When I was just focused on the physical body and disregarded the other three of course I wasn’t going to get anywhere. Inside had to change first in order to manifest on the outside. Once I realized this & listened to what my Soul was telling me literally my physical body took on the shape it was meant to be with a lot less effort and complicatedness. Soul is simple.
Sorting out my emotional baggage, getting on my spiritual path & focusing on doing what I love has been the best diet & weight loss program ever. I no longer need a layer of padding around my solar plexus to hide behind. The self-doubt has gone & so have the kilos. It was that straight forward for me*.
For the past year easing off the hard-core exercise has been good for me. It’s been about maintenance, relaxing, nourishing and taking it easy. It’s time to ramp it up again. As I mentioned above physical exercise goes far deeper into the invisible plane. I’ve started to notice the more healing & teaching work I under take the more exercise I need to be doing.
Why? I need to clear my system of any stale energy or emotions that might attach to me from my work. No matter how much protection or spiritual hygiene one does before or after a session a physical release is also needed. Exercising is part of my spiritual hygiene now. Energy, especially emotional energy, can get stored and stuck in every cell of our body. A physical flush out helps release this.
The Bikram Yoga I practice & teach is an amazing release for me. I can literally feel the blockages being sweated out my pores & left on my mat. Yoga of any kind is beneficial. Yoga asana work deep into the body to a cellular level. It’s not muscles and joints that get worked out, the respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic & endocrine systems get a good going over. The constant compression and extension of every part of our body inside & out helps flush fresh high speed oxygenated blood through it. Within this blood the stale energy is released & pushed through as well.
For example different energies get stored in different parts of our bodies. Self-doubt is stored in the stomach and fear in our kidneys. During a deep backward bend by compressing into our kidneys that fear is released. Ever get a bit scared when backward bending? It’s totally normal as its all that fear being released.
It’s important to keep our physical body strong & healthy in order to bring in more light. Light (love) raises vibration & assists greatly in the connection with Soul. Recently I’ve started getting headaches & feeling really lethargic. Signs I have not been releasing as much energy as I need to be. This has kept me away from the yoga room. When what I needed was to get in there! My vibration was lowering, as I wasn’t keeping on top of my practice.
Further assurance came when I took a well over due yoga class. I’ve missed yoga. I need it more than ever now to keep clean & clear. Lying in the pool of sweat, with the lights dimmed after class I was so at peace. Opening my eyes who knows how long later I was alone, content & lighter in more ways than one.
I’m sure my body and Soul will tell me when it’s time for a change again. Something new in the exercise field or just dial it down again. Till then the hot room is calling me home.

*Disclaimer – this is my own personal journey/experience. I’m not endorsing what I do is a magic way to loose weight & be healthy. Please seek professional advice before taking on a new diet or exercise program.
It’s officially winter in the Southern hemisphere, just the time that some creatures go into hibernation for the colder months. How wonderful would that be, bed down somewhere warm and safe for a few months and miss the bleak, cold winter weather. No, I’d be afraid of missing something!
I do feel like winter is a time to hibernate in a different way. Especially for me, summer is spent outside being very social. There is a constant stream of people coming & going through my back yard all summer long. Winter rolls around & we naturally want to be indoors, the days are shorter so it’s easy to be inside when there is no late evening sun to bask in. It’s a great time to take some peace & stillness for myself.
On an energetic level too I am feeling more of a pull to retreat. I went through a huge what I call ‘spiritual hibernation’ at the start of the year. I needed to be alone in my own space, my own thoughts & not have to ‘deal’ with anything outside of my box. I locked myself away; I even had a tech detox, no social media or emailing. People actually noticed my absence that made me think I must have been very active online. It’s good to pull back, especially if the activity is more of a time waste. I needed time alone to prepare for the months ahead. This hibernation was invaluable, it did the trick and I came out the other side raring to go.
I spoke about the changes the month of May brought for me in this earlier post. These changes have been awesome but it’s time to hibernate again. The main reason being is my vibration has shifted again. After completing my second twelve-week program with my mentor I need time to absorb the lessons I’ve learned. I really need to live them and embed them into my life. To do this I need quiet time to think, meditate and practice. A break away from the ‘outside’ world will help. Subtly retracting just for a while. Most people probably won’t even notice I’ve gone 😉
It’s important I adjust to this vibrational change first before being around other people. I know this might sound totally woo hoo to some, just roll with me here. When I’ve gone through these shifts in the past without fully realizing what was happening I get very whacked out. I can’t cope well in challenging situations or with demanding, over bearing people. Big groups of people kill me. Even some close friends become too much to handle. Usually I’m there for them & happy to be their download person but at these times I just can’t offer my energy.
The warning signs started flashing last week. For me I get very tired whilst my head is spinning at the rate of knots, I just want to sleep (hibernate!), I physically ache, my head throbs like a migraine but not, Bikram yoga becomes too intense and yang for me, I crave slower, gentle exercise & lots of stillness in meditation. An added ‘fun’ part of a shift is I set shop alarms off going into the shop. Even when I have no bag or anything on my apart from me, off go the alarms. Time to get my head down & step back.
Winter is the perfect time for this. The pace is slower & it’s nice to be inside in the warm to process these changes. My numerology is year 6 for 2013, all about family & being at home. Explains why I have an even stronger pull to step out of the public realm. Hibernation gives me that valuable self-love time as I do not commit or arrange any social engagements. I look after myself, nurture and nourish. That way I reemerge happy, healthy & rejuvenated. Fully in balance with my vibrational change so I don’t crack up or accidently go nuts on someone else.
Do you find yourself hibernating over the winter months? Don’t be afraid too, it’s great to have a little time out & nest for a while.
